Westside Promise Initiative

Director of community initiatives at the Nonprofit Partnership reported 158 attendees at Westside nonprofit convenings in the first year and 48 funding applications by participating organizations.

A North Long Beach resident, Bike Long Beach board member, and Long Beach Transit bus driver thanked the city and urged better connections to the Westside for pedestrians and cyclists.

A longtime Westside resident said pollution kills residents daily, called for increased household income and clean air as priorities, and criticized the initiative for lacking measurable outcomes.

A Fountain of Life member born and raised on the Westside, she asked what benchmarks exist, who is carrying forward the departed Fuse Fellow's bank-attraction work, and whether the Westside coordinator position will be extended past year three.
